About Gurgaon
Gurgaon, a modern city in the northern Indian forms a part of National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi. NCR region denotes cities around New Delhi within a radius of 250 kms.
The origins of the city’s name are steeped in Hindu mythology. Legend has it that Gurgaon is the ancestral village of Guru Dronacharya, one of the teachers in the Indian epic Mahabharata. Gurgaon comes from Guru (from Guru Dronacharya) and Gaon (meaning village). The village was gifted by the Pandavas and Kauravas to their Guru (Dronacharya), and was known as Guru ka Gaon (Village of the Guru), and later Gurgaon.
Gurgaon is just 10 kms away from Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. Gurgaon has earned global recognition as one of the best IT and ITES destination. It is the most preferred destination for the corporate executives and the multi-national companies that want space in Delhi. Gurgaon is known for its large number of malls and shopping facilities, attributed to be one of the major factors in its recent growth.
